Apple’s Itunes has deployed a new site called TunesPro.com responsible for pre-releasing individual songs and full-albums before their official “release date”. Due to licensing restrictions, the site only releases and sells a limited amount of the pre released music.
TunesPro currently has over 6 million songs in the mp3 catalog. The lack of DRM (Digital Rights Management) encoding provides a superior quality of sound.
To demonstrate the sites niche, TunesPro pre-released ‘Robbie Williams’ new album titled “Video Killed the Radio Star” (to be officially released on Nov 14th) just 2 weeks ahead of the album’s scheduled release.
The individual mp3 downloads of Robbie Williams & Bon Jovi new albums are being sold exclusively for a limited time only for $0.19/song while the full albums sell for $2.22.
According to Jake Davis, managing director of TunesPro.com, only 15,000 copies of the album we;re licensed to be sold via the website. “Due to licensing restrictions, we are only authorized to sell 15,000 copies” confirmed Davis in a press interview announcing the CD release - while adding with a grin “First come – first Serve”.
Fans who miss the opportunity to purchase the full album for $2.22 can pre-order the deluxe album via Amazon for £12.98 or $21 USD, which is scheduled to be released on Nov 11th.
