Privacy Policy

Stereotune is a universal music library. It helps you organize songs, albums, and mixtapes across the music services you already use. Stereotune never hosts, downloads, or re-streams audio or video: playback always happens through each service's own official player or link.

Account information. When you sign up we store your email address, display name, and username so you can sign in and be found by friends.

Your library. Songs, albums, mixtapes, favorites, and listening history you save in Stereotune. This is metadata (titles, artists, artwork links, and links to each service) — never audio or video files.

Community content. Posts, replies, mixtape dedications, and friend connections you choose to make.

Usage data. Basic technical information needed to run and secure the service, such as sign-in events and error logs.

Stereotune uses the YouTube API Services to match songs in your library to their official videos and to play those videos inside YouTube's own embedded player. Our use of the YouTube API Services is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

What we request from YouTube. When you add a song, we may send a search query (the song's title and artist) to YouTube to find the matching official video. We store the resulting video ID and basic video metadata (title, channel, thumbnail) so the song stays playable for you and other members without repeating the search.

What we never do. We do not download, copy, extract, or proxy YouTube audio or video. We do not play audio without the video, and we do not hide or alter YouTube's player, branding, or controls. If a video is removed or restricted by YouTube or its rights holder, it simply won't play.

Your Google data. Stereotune does not access your personal Google or YouTube account data (such as your YouTube playlists, subscriptions, or watch history). Searches are made on behalf of the service, not your personal account, and no Google account connection is required to use Stereotune.

Cached data. Search results are cached for up to 14 days and video metadata is refreshed periodically, in line with YouTube API Services policies. Cached data contains only public video information — never anything about your Google account.

We use the information above to run the service: keeping your library in sync, showing your mixtapes and posts to the friends you choose, and improving search and matching. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your listening data to build advertising profiles.

When you connect a third-party music service, your connection happens directly with that service and is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. Stereotune stores only the metadata and links needed to show your library.

Content you post to the community (posts, replies, dedications, and mixtapes you share) is visible to your Stereotune friends. Your email address is never shown to other members. We share information with service providers only as needed to operate Stereotune (for example, our hosting and database providers), and only under confidentiality obligations.

You can edit your profile, delete posts and mixtapes, and remove songs from your library at any time. You can request a copy of your data or deletion of your account by contacting us. Deleting your account removes your profile, library, posts, and friend connections.

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and row-level access controls in our database. We retain your information for as long as your account is active, and delete it when you delete your account, subject to limited backups kept for a short period.

Stereotune is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, notify members in the app.
